Brownie Promise and Law
Brownie reflection in pond
animated Brownie making her promise

Your Brownie Promise and Law

I promise that I will do my best
To love my God
To serve the Queen and my country
To help other people
and
To keep the Brownie Guide Law

Your Brownie Guide Law

A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a Good Turn every Day

Your Promise is in three parts:

To love your God
To serve the Queen and your country
To help other people and keep the Brownie Guide Law

Other things in Brownies are in three parts too.
Your Promise Badge has three ‘leaves’ and we use three fingers for our Brownie salute

When you are ready to make your Promise we have a Promise Ceremony. You can choose where you want to hold this and you can invite your parents or friends. At Llandough brownies we usually all stand in a circle. In the middle of the circle we have a ‘pond’ and the Brownie making her Promise stands in front of the pond. She is then turned round by her sixer while we all say
Twist me and turn me and show me the elf, I looked in the water and there saw...........”. The brownie then says ‘Myself’ ( read the Brownie Story to find out more about this ) Brown owl then asks the Brownie to make her Promise and presents her with her badge.

Our Promise Ceremony

Brownie Guide Motto

Lend A Hand

It’s important that we all try to keep our Promise every day, at school and at home.
