Lord Baden Powell
Lady Baden Powell

1907 - Robert Baden Powell developed scheme for training boys and published “Scouting For Boys”

1909 - Scout’s Rally at Crystal palace- a small group of Girls turned up wanting to be Scouts too!

1910 - We won! Girl Guides were formed and looked after by Baden Powell’s sister, Agnes.

1914 - A junior section for us but called Rosebuds, (yeugh!)
Later changed to Brownies

1926 - Thinking Day on 22nd February, the joint birthdays of Lord and Lady Baden powell

1964 - Brownie Golden Jubilee year

1974 - Brownie Diamond Jubilee year

1987 - New section for younger members called Rainbows opened

1989 - Brownies 75th year and centenary of Olave Baden powells birthday

1990 - New uniform for brownies designed by Jeff banks

1994 - Name change now called The Guide Association

2000 - Guide Section renewal and Senior Section “ Look Wider” programme launched

2002 - Another name change, now called Girlguiding UK

2003 - New “ Brownie Adventure “ launched 1st major change for 35yrs

2004 - Brownies 90th year!
